A Return to the Sea

Mermaids are known for their unattainability but their strength should also be acknowledged. They are the sea personified. A reminder of beauty and danger, awe and respect.
Water is life. Biology tells us that it’s our origin, but the lures and beating that Life (Capital L. It’s different. Brutal. Honest. Raw.) give us make it difficult to return to our first home.
Existence is largely composed of tests of endurance masked as turbulent storms. Fleeting moments of peace and joy are scattered throughout. A spring day. A reunion. Time spent with loved one – others, yourself.
Maybe, in a way that’s leagues from perfect, we do resemble mermaids. When the shallow waters no longer suffice, we seek the depths of our hearts and our minds.
Forever exploring.
Forever learning.
