Child of the Mountains

Buildings loom above her as cars whiz by on newly-widened roads
She bumps shoulders with strangers and makes eye contact with unknowns
This child of the mountains craves for her first home
She longs for new heights and a higher sense of self
For the connection with nature that can only be felt
When she stands under leaf-dappled light and feels the sun warm her skin
Where the cold crisp air revitalizes what’s within
When she hears the symphony of the trees whispering to one another
Where the sound of leaves crackling underfoot encourages her to go farther
A place so stoic and peaceful, you find the gap between your thoughts and unearth what truly lies in your heart
She needs the space to find herself and to atone
This child of the mountains craves for her first home
