we began in the thick of autumn
blossoming as everything around us died in a flurry of color
and engrossed
we briefly paid homage to Fitzgerald’s words.
we ended in the throws of mid-winter
weathering the Arctic winds with uncertainty and heartache.
but now
the days are getting longer
and flowers are blooming
and the earth is softening for reception
there’s a shift in perspective and a peaceful understanding
as I watch what has survived
and thrive.
